Teen Dream (the new Beach House album) reviewed by Pitchfork this morning and is added to their Best New Music. I 100% agree with the review, one of my favourite albums of the year thus far.
The Tallest Man on Earth has signed to US label Dead Oceans. Dead Oceans will release his new album The Wild Hunt on April 13th, with North American dates to occur in the spring. Today has been a great day for music-lovers in Toronto. Tons of great shows have been confirmed. Here are the highlights:
The XX and jj’s double bill has finally been confirmed for Toronto. The two bands will play Phoenix on Sunday April 4th, Tickets , $20, on sale this Thursday at 10am via ticketmaster, soundscapes and rotate this.
Kings of Convenience play the Phoenix on February 18th, tickets on sale Saturday January 16th for $21.50.
Spoon play Sound Academy with Deerhunter and the Strange Boys on March 29th. Tickets $24.50 general admission, and $33.50 VIP balcony on sale Thursday January 14th.
In support of the gorgeous Teen Dream, Beach House play The Opera House on March 30th. Tickets will be available starting Friday January 15th for $14.

Sincerely Yours’jj have recently signed to Secretly Canadian in North America and are embarking on a full tour of the continent. A portion of the dates will be a double bill with The XX, but sadly it does not look like it will happen in Toronto, even though they will be playing together the night before in Montreal (ROAD TRIP???). The XX will be at Kool Haus with Hot Chip on April 20th.

Ryan Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones (stop laughing, they are really good! I’m as surprised as you are) have moved their show from the Music Gallery to Opera House. More tickets have been released for the show, which happens on Tuesday October 20th.

Finally, after Kanye cancelled the joint North American tour, Lady Gaga is going out on here own and has announced The Monster Ball tour. The tour hits Toronto on November 28th. No ticket details as of yet.
Friendly Fires are back for a third time this year. They are confirmed a show at the Phoenix on December 2nd, my latest obession The XX open. Tickets, $16.50, are on sale now.
Basement Jaxx are heading out on a brief North American DJ tour which stops at Century Room on November 3rd.

The Gossip have confirmed at Toronto date on their upcoming North American tour. They play Opera House on October 14th, tickets, $24.50 on sale today here. The band have just released their new album Music For Men. Check out the video for first single Heavy Crosshere.
Warp Records (and Stereolab sound-a-likes) Broadcast are touring with Atlas Sound. The tour hits Lee’s Palace on October 24th. No ticket details as of yet.
