Teen Dream (the new Beach House album) reviewed by Pitchfork this morning and is added to their Best New Music. I 100% agree with the review, one of my favourite albums of the year thus far.

The Tallest Man on Earth has signed to US label Dead Oceans. Dead Oceans will release his new album The Wild Hunt on April 13th, with North American dates to occur in the spring. Today has been a great day for music-lovers in Toronto.  Tons of great shows have been confirmed.  Here are the highlights:

The XX and jj’s double bill has finally been confirmed for Toronto.  The two bands will play Phoenix on Sunday April 4th, Tickets , $20, on sale this Thursday at 10am via ticketmaster, soundscapes and rotate this.

Kings of Convenience play the Phoenix on February 18th, tickets on sale Saturday January 16th for $21.50.

Spoon play Sound Academy with Deerhunter and the Strange Boys on March 29th.  Tickets $24.50 general admission, and $33.50 VIP balcony on sale Thursday January 14th.

In support of the gorgeous Teen Dream, Beach House play The Opera House on March 30th.  Tickets will be available starting Friday January 15th for $14.

Vampire Weekend Perform Cousins and Toronto Date Confirmation

I can’t believe that Vampire Weekend’s new album Contra comes out in two weeks. It feels like only yesterday it was announced. In anticipation of the release, they have taped an episode of Juan’s Basement for Pitchfork. Watch it below.

Sincerely Yours’ jj have recently signed to Secretly Canadian in North America and are embarking on a full tour of the continent.  A portion of the dates will be a double bill with The XX, but sadly it does not look like it will happen in Toronto, even though they will be playing together the night before in Montreal (ROAD TRIP???).  The XX will be at Kool Haus with Hot Chip on April 20th.

Final Fantasy Performs Lewis Takes Action

Mew play Mod Club on Sunday December 5th.  Tickets on sale this morning here.

Devendra Banhart plays Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Friday November 27th.  Tickets on sale now.

Imogen Heap plays the same venue on night earlier.  Tickets are also on sale now.

Junior Boys and Woodhands are at Lee’s on Friday November 6th.  Quite a small venue for Junior Boys, should be pretty wicked.  Tickets available here.

The Very Best play Wrongbar on Friday October 30th.  Tickets, $10 on sale ate Rotate.

Ryan Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones (stop laughing, they are really good! I’m as surprised as you are) have moved their show from the Music Gallery to Opera House.  More tickets have been released for the show, which happens on Tuesday October 20th.

Girls play El Mocambo Tuesday November 10th.  Tickets are $12 and are available at Rotate.

Hidden Cameras and Gentlemen Reg play Opera House on December 5th.  Tickets here.

Finally, after Kanye cancelled the joint North American tour, Lady Gaga is going out on here own and has announced The Monster Ball tour.  The tour hits Toronto on November 28th.  No ticket details as of yet.

Friendly Fires are back for a third time this year.  They are confirmed a show at the Phoenix on December 2nd, my latest obession The XX open.  Tickets, $16.50, are on sale now.

Camera Obscura and Papercuts play the same venue November 26th.  Ticket details to come.

Basement Jaxx are heading out on a brief North American DJ tour which stops at Century Room on November 3rd.

Born Ruffians play Opera House September 19th.  Tickets, $15.00, on sale now at Rotate and here.

The same night Chad VanGaalen has a show at Church of the Redeemer.  Tickets are $20.00 and on sale now at Rotate.

Amy Millan plays Mod Club on October 14th.  Tickets available now.  The same night, The Gossip play the Opera House.  Tickets are a wopping $24.50 and are on sale at the usual outlets.

Cuff The Duke do a two night stand at the Horseshoe on October 16th and 17th.

Dan Deacon is at the Great Hall on November 4th.  His live shows are amazing, saw him a couple years ago open for Girl Talk.  Check this one out, its super affordable ($10).

The Gossip have confirmed at Toronto date on their upcoming North American tour. They play Opera House on October 14th, tickets, $24.50 on sale today here.  The band have just released their new album Music For Men.  Check out the video for first single Heavy Cross here.

Warp Records (and Stereolab sound-a-likes) Broadcast are touring with Atlas Sound.  The tour hits Lee’s Palace on October 24th.  No ticket details as of yet.

Sea Wolf plays Sneaky Dee’s on October 9th. Port O’Brien and Sara Dov support.  Sea Wolf’s new album White Water, White Bloom is out September 22nd.

Coco Rosie play Lee’s Palace September 9th in support of their album to be released in 2010.

Vic Chesnutt plays Lee’s Palace on November 7th.

Blast from the Brit-Pop past, Manic Street Preachers have just confirmed a short North American tour, their first in 10 years.  They stop at the Phoenix on October 4th.  Tickets on sale today at 10am here.

Olympic Island Festival 2009 Announced

RootMeanSquare have confirmed the 2009 Olympic Island Festival. Previous years have seen Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, and Broken Social Scene play the early summer fest.

This year’s fest takes place July 11th  and will feature sets by Broken Social Scene, Explosions In The Sky, Thunderheist, Beach House, Apostle of Hustle and Rattlesnake Choir.
